A family-owned shop in Lancaster, California, in the Antelope Valley since 1978. Most of our work is custom foam fully enclosed in double-coated nylon: aircraft work pads, surface protection, and FOD plugs.

What we make
Custom foam fully enclosed in double-coated nylon: aircraft work pads, surface protection pads, and FOD (foreign object debris) plugs. Also CNC-cut custom foam, 3D-printed ABS fixture clamps and TPU parts, and custom embroidery.
Location
220 West Avenue I, Lancaster, CA 93534 (Antelope Valley, near Palmdale's Air Force Plant 42 and Edwards AFB). A new 10,000 sq ft facility is under construction.
History
In Lancaster since 1978. Started as an upholstery shop (Lancaster Upholstery) making golf cart seats for Northrop, then grew into aerospace protective products. Jacob Rough, grandson of founder Robert Rough, bought the business and renamed it Rough Cut Manufacturing in 2026.
Customers
Approved Northrop Grumman supplier, serving Northrop's Palmdale operations through standard RFQ/PO. Also supplies Lockheed Martin and NASA. Open to every industry.
Equipment
Laguna Swift 5 x 10 ft vacuum-table CNC (foam, plastics, wood, aluminum); Makera Carvera Air desktop CNC with a 4th-axis attachment for small parts and rotary work; 20 Creality K2 Plus 3D printers and an Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga large-format printer (parts up to 800 x 800 x 1000 mm); industrial sewing; embroidery.

Registered in SAM.gov; CAGE 4PDJ1; UEI JWTHS1Q9KFL7; small business. Not currently AS9100/ISO 9001 certified or ITAR registered.
Typical order
A custom enclosed pad or FOD plug runs about $350 each. Prototype to production quantities; standard turnaround two weeks; rush available.
